The third is Harris who has a printing business in London and is even more boring, who did nothing except to get excessively drunk and lacks romance and poetry. He is boring at times but in the boating expedition, he is always boisterous carrying a banjo. The other character George is a banker who follows strict routine. The way he describes his two friends fill the readers with laughter. Jerome(the narrator) is the central character who is a freelance journalist and is always confident and jovial he believes his other two friends are boring. This is a story of everything but nothing. They start off on Saturday, rent a boat from Kingston and while picking up George from work they head out on a boating trip.īetween this, story propels into a comical sketch of boating and hilarious mishaps.
